Terri's Bio

A History of Leeds Funk (Including a nice piece on Terri) https://released.co.uk/blogs/blog/a-deep-dive-into-leeds-funk-music-why-it-went-so-big

Terri is a powerful singer, bandleader, song-writer and producer. She sings a bluesy fusion of deep soul, jazz, funk, rare-groove and reggae. Her tone ranges from gutsy and raw to lilting and lush.

Influences include  Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Marlena Shaw, Gladys Knight, Ray Charles, Phyllis Dylan and many more, but her style is all her own.

Terri has worked with several prestigious musicians including jazz and funk guitar legend Jim Mullen, who invited her to perform live with him, Grammy award-winning house/soul/gospel singer Barbara Tucker, and session singing for hip-hop artist MC Undakova.

She sang for award-winning reggae producers Mafia and Fluxy and ex-Sugar Mynott producer Roman Pryce. Terri has even sung jazz in Harlem!

We haven't seen much of Terri on the live circuit lately because she's been in the studio producing and putting the finishing touches to her second album.

She is now back on the road with more live dates being added to her current tour. (see gig section)

More good news is that Terri's first album, Sweet Thing, previously only available on CD and streaming services Spotify, itunes & Amazon Music, is now available on vinyl released by Shed Load Records, the growing offshoot of  Shed Load Of Vinyl , the vintage vinyl store based in Guiseley, Leeds.

Blues and Soul gave an outstanding review of Sweet Thing, saying:

'Singer and guitarist Terri Shaltiel is quite simply a force of nature...She has a vocal gift, and it's fascinating to hear her wield it. She also has a knack for penning heart on your sleeve old school funk belters such as the riff laden opener,'This Bitch' which delivers an enormous, walloping late 60's type of sound. This stylish offering, along with 'Pick It Up' shows her deep understanding of jazz, blues, soul and funk. The gospel is never too far away either, with the outstanding 'Lose My Mind'
